The City of San Jose contracted Rodan Builders to remodel their existing holding room located at Gate 18 in Terminal A and expand it into the adjacent empty tenant space. This will add approximately 5,500 SF of additional seating for incoming flights. Work includes adding all new electrical, HVAC, fire and life safety upgrades, along with new Trespa paneling, all new flooring and new rolling acoustical ceiling grid.
Before any of this work could start, Rodan had to build a security wall that would separate the work area from the terminal for safety and security. This would also allow work to be done with the minimal disturbance to the passengers loading and unloading at Gates near the project area. Most of the work had to be done during off hours due to the security risk of having tools and equipment brought in while passengers were boarding and de-boarding planes.
